When does a flaw detection gauge become essential in inspections?

Hello colleagues. I'd like to ask about internal defect detection specifically. We've managed for years without specialized tools, but recently the complexity of our inspections has increased. At what point did you personally feel that a flaw detection gauge was no longer optional but necessary? Was it driven by standards, customer requirements, or internal quality concerns?

Introducing a flaw detection gauge allowed us to detect issues that would otherwise go unnoticed. Before making the decision, we reviewed different detector types and applications to understand their real value. Once integrated, it became clear that the tool didn't complicate inspections—it actually reduced uncertainty.
