Choosing between free zone and mainland how did you decide?

Every blog praises free zones for simplicity, while others insist mainland is better for growth. My business is mostly B2B, possibly with UAE clients, but I also want flexibility for the future. I've already changed my mind three times How did you personally make this decision? Was it based on cost, activity, long-term plans, or something else entirely?
